Four team-building technology tools.

When it comes to managing, motivating and communicating with your teams every day, fitting everything in can sometimes feel a little overwhelming.

Thankfully, there are some amazing (and surprisingly inexpensive) tech solutions that are helping team leaders across industries stay organised while supporting staff and workload across their teams.

  1. Build and motivate your teams on LinkedIn

Most of us think of LinkedIn as a way to network with people outside our own organisation. But it’s also great for building connections within your organisation, too!

LinkedIn’s CEO Jeff Weiner is well known to actively engage in the posts and articles shared by his employees, and encourages them to do the same with each other.

Leaving comments, asking questions, and encouraging your staff to share ideas and interact with each other on LinkedIn can bring about a number of benefits.

For starters, team members could find points of common interest that spark further connection within the workplace. This can lead to increased collaboration and support within teams.

Getting managers and supervisors on board (and setting the example from the top!) can help employees feel valued and listened to, and can increase loyalty and job satisfaction.

Engaging with the latest research and sharing articles on industry best practice will not only help your company stay on the top of its game – but all this online activity also generates a form of advertising for your brand name. Your staff’s conversations and posts show up on their connections’ feeds, so set a strong example of the tone you’d like them to emulate.

  1. Collaborate with ease using cloud-based task management

Long gone are the days of relying on pin-boards or mountains of post-it notes to manage your complex team tasks.

There’s now a host of online tools and software available to support real-time project management across teams working both remotely and face-to-face.

Whether you opt for Trello, Asana, JIRA, monday.com or something else, there are plenty of online programs that enable your whole team to clearly track, delegate, collaborate on, and progress various projects in real time, no matter where you’re all located.

And the best part – depending on the size of your organisation some of these software options are even free!

  1. Get real-time feedback with survey tools (Google Forms, Survey Monkey)

Building online surveys and forms is now easier than ever with tools like Google Forms and Survey Monkey.

These enable you to collaboratively brainstorm ideas and collate data from your teams.

It’s a great way to seek constructive feedback on workplace processes and systems with the option for anonymity where that’s appropriate.

There are also plenty of quick tutorials to help get you started on these and most other platforms available, so you can reap their benefits as quickly as possible without having to wade through teething issues while getting set up.

  1. Make your meetings fun (Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams)

Ah, the world of virtual meetings.

We all experienced a sort of ‘baptism by fire’ into familiarity with many of these platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic – but there are plenty of ways they can serve to enhance team building in our workplaces, too.

The internet is rife with ideas for team building activities that can be conducted virtually over these platforms.

From virtual scavenger hunts to team games and anything and everything in between, it’s safe to say the video call can be used for so much more than just a way to meet remotely.

Which of these tools does your organisation currently use – and could you use any of them better? Or maybe it’s time to give something new a try? Let us know how you go in the comments below!
