Attraction vs Retention: A Sneak Peek into the 2025 Salary Survey
At Be Recruitment, we are passionate about supporting the community services sector, and for the second year in a row, we are proud sponsors of the Pro Bono Australia 2025 Salary Survey. This important project helps us better understand the experiences, challenges, and motivators shaping the sector’s workforce today.
The full report will be released in the coming weeks, but here’s a sneak peek: What attracts talent today is not necessarily what keeps them.
Flexibility topped the list of attraction strategies, with almost half of the respondents rating it as their number one priority when considering a new role. However, retention challenges continue to be dominated by low remuneration, high workloads, and limited career development opportunities.
While trust in leadership around employee wellbeing remains relatively strong, our findings also point to the growing importance of psychological safety — creating workplaces where employees feel safe to speak up, take risks, and ask for support without fear.
This is emerging as a critical factor in building loyalty, engagement, and long-term success.
We’ll be publishing the full Pro Bono Australia 2025 Salary Survey Report shortly, sharing deeper insights, sector trends, and practical strategies to help organisations strengthen both their attraction and retention strategies.
Thank you to everyone who participated — we’re excited to share the full findings with you soon!
In the meantime, if you’re interested in gaining deeper insights into how your employees perceive your organisation, talk to our team about our Employer Value Proposition (EVP) program and how it can help you better understand, engage, and retain great talent.
