This position sits within a growing, purpose driven organisation that delivers Supported Independent Living services to adults with disability. The focus is on practical, person centred support that promotes independence, builds capability, and improves overall quality of life for the people accessing the service.
The opportunity
This is not a purely operational role. You will be working on the floor alongside your team while also taking responsibility for leadership, coordination, and oversight of the service. The role operates across a rotating roster, with dedicated time built in for leadership responsibilities such as planning, reporting, and team support.
You will be responsible for guiding a small team of support workers, ensuring consistent delivery of care, and maintaining strong communication with internal stakeholders and external parties such as families and allied health professionals. The role requires someone who is comfortable balancing competing priorities while maintaining a clear focus on outcomes for both clients and staff.
What you will bring
This role would suit someone who has already stepped into informal (acting) or formal leadership and is ready to take ownership of a service.
You will demonstrate:
- At least 12 month experience as a team leader (including acting) working within disability or community services, ideally within a Supported Independent Living setting
- Confidence leading or mentoring staff and holding accountability for team performance
- Capability in supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours using a structured and consistent approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Willingness to work across a 24 hour roster, including sleepovers and night shifts
- Willingness to participate in an regular on-call roster
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- A valid Australian driver's licence
- Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain
You will be stepping into a stable service with an established team, where there is a genuine focus on doing the work properly. The organisation is continuing to expand, creating future opportunities for progression, while still maintaining a grounded and practical approach to service delivery.
If you are looking for a role where you can lead from the front and have a direct impact on both staff and client outcomes, this is worth exploring.
