Foster Care Recruiter & Training Officer

Support carer recruitment in Grafton. SCHADS 5, 4 days/week with WFH, training provided and pool car for visits and events.

  • Deliver carer assessments, reviews and information exchanges across the Grafton
  • Support recruitment and community engagement activities, including some weekend
  • 4 days per week with WFH flexibility, pool car provided, plus full training
We are seeking a motivated and community-focused Carer Recruitment & Development Worker to join our team based in Grafton.

This role plays a key part in recruiting, assessing, and supporting carers to provide safe, nurturing homes for children and young people.

This is a 4-day-per-week role offering flexibility, training, and a mix of office, community, and home-based work.

About the role Based in the Grafton office, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality carer recruitment and development activities, working closely with carers, applicants and internal teams.

You will:
  • Complete carer assessments, reviews, and information exchange sessions
  • Support recruitment activities, including community events and occasional weekend engagement
  • Maintain accurate records and assessment documentation
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support carer development and retention
The role offers flexibility, with:
  • 1 day per week working from home (and up to 2 days when writing assessments)
  • A pool car is provided for home visits, appointments, and recruitment events
  • Training provided in Shared Lives, Step by Step and Winangay assessments
Key responsibilities
  • Conduct carer reviews, assessments, and information exchanges
  • Support recruitment and community engagement activities
  • Complete assessment reports and compliance documentation
  • Attend community events and recruitment activities (some weekends)
  • Work within trauma-informed and culturally safe practice frameworks
About you You will bring:
  • Experience in community services, OOHC, foster/kinship care or similar with transferable skills considered
  • Strong written skills for completing assessments and reports
  • Confidence in engaging with carers and community stakeholders
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally
Relevant qualifications and experience will be recognised in line with SCHADS Level 5.
