We are partnering with a highly respected community services organisation to recruit a Family Therapist / Family Counsellor for a brand-new Youth Trauma Service launching in the ACT. This is a unique opportunity to join an innovative, multidisciplinary program supporting young people and their families impacted by complex trauma.
This newly designed service provides wraparound, trauma-informed care to young people aged 13–17 experiencing developmental trauma, mental health challenges, neurodiversity, AOD concerns, family violence and psychosocial instability. The program focuses on relational safety, cultural responsiveness, accessibility and long-term recovery outcomes while strengthening whole-of-family support systems.

The Opportunity As the Family Therapist, you will provide specialised family therapy and family-inclusive interventions within a multidisciplinary youth trauma service. You will play a key role in strengthening family engagement and supporting clinicians to embed systemic, family-focused practice across the program.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Delivering trauma-informed family therapy and family-inclusive therapeutic interventions
  • Conducting family and relational assessments and contributing to multidisciplinary care planning
  • Providing psychoeducation and group-based family support programs
  • Supporting young people and families through flexible outreach and community-based engagement
  • Providing consultation, mentoring and training to clinicians to strengthen family-inclusive practice
  • Supporting development and implementation of family engagement frameworks and service initiatives
  • Collaborating with schools, youth mental health, AOD, community and cultural support services
  • Contributing to program development, quality improvement and service evaluation
About You We are seeking a clinician passionate about supporting young people and families impacted by trauma and complex mental health needs.
You will bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or a related discipline
  • Professional registration or eligibility for membership (e.g., AHPRA, AASW or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience delivering family therapy or family counselling within mental health or trauma-informed settings
  • Strong understanding of systemic family therapy and family-inclusive practice
  • Experience working with young people and families experiencing complex and intersecting challenges
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration capability
  • Current driver’s licence
