Domestic & Family Violence Specialist Worker

Short-term contract for an experienced DFV Specialist Worker supporting women through risk assessment, safety planning and court advocacy

We are currently partnering with a well-established community organisation in Southern Sydney that provides specialist support to women and families impacted by domestic and family violence.

This service plays a critical role in supporting women navigating the legal system and accessing safety planning, advocacy and coordinated responses through a Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS).

We are seeking an experienced Domestic & Family Violence Specialist Worker to join the team and support women experiencing or at risk of domestic and family violence through crisis support, court advocacy and coordinated safety responses.

The Role
This position is working within a specialist DFV service, supporting women who have been referred through police, government and community services.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Responding to referrals and contacting clients to undertake risk assessments and safety planning
  • Providing trauma-informed crisis support and advocacy for women experiencing domestic and family violence
  • Supporting women navigating the AVO process and attending court advocacy days where required
  • Coordinating referrals and warm connections to housing, legal and community support services
  • Liaising with key stakeholders including police, courts, legal services and specialist DFV services
  • Contributing to coordinated responses through Safety Action Meetings (SAM) for women assessed at serious threat
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and reporting in line with program requirements
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience working in the domestic and family violence sector
  • Strong experience conducting risk assessments and safety planning
  • A trauma-informed, non-judgemental and person-centred approach
  • Strong advocacy, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence
