Start: Late May 2026

Lead, Stabilise & Build – A Unique Leadership Opportunity.

We are partnering with Catholic Care Western Sydney and Blue Mountains to recruit a Child & Family Services Manager for a 10-month maternity leave contract.

This is a high-impact opportunity to step into an established program (CAFS) while also leading the rollout of a newly funded Families Together program — offering a rare blend of stability, leadership, and program build.

The Opportunity You will oversee two distinct but complementary DCJ-funded programs:
  • CAFS (Child and Family Services) – early intervention, structured delivery, partnership-led
  • Families Together – lower volume, higher risk, requiring responsive, solution-focused leadership
This role will suit a leader who can navigate complexity, switch between priorities, and confidently manage both planned service delivery and high-risk escalation environments.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead and oversee services across multiple sites in Western Sydney
  • Provide leadership and support to Team Leaders and multidisciplinary teams (~12–13 staff)
  • Drive program performance, compliance, and reporting (DCJ-funded programs)
  • Support the rollout and establishment of Families Together from July
  • Build and strengthen stakeholder relationships with DCJ and community partners
  • Manage risk, escalation, and complex service delivery environments
  • Establish team structure, systems, and operational cadence across both programs
  • Ensure strong safeguarding, child safety and trauma-informed practice
About You
  • Proven leadership experience within child, youth and family services
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, Human Services or a related field
  • Strong understanding of DCJ-funded programs, compliance and safeguarding frameworks
  • Experience managing multiple programs and multidisciplinary teams of similar size across varying risk profiles
  • Confident leading teams through change, growth and program implementation
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across government and community sectors
  • Calm, structured, and solutions-focused leadership style
  • Ability to step in quickly, stabilise, and add value from the outset
  • Current Driver’s Licence, with the ability to obtain or hold a Working With Children Check, National Police Check, and two professional references

Why This Role?
  • Opportunity to lead an established program AND build a new one
  • Step into a senior leadership role with immediate impact
  • Strong organisational support, including executive leadership support, risk & compliance functions
  • Exposure to both early intervention and high-risk family preservation work
  • Flexible working model (approx. 3 days office / 2 days flexible)
What’s on Offer
  • SCHADS Level 7 + salary packaging
  • On-call allowance (rotating roster with 12 staff 6 am - 8 pm no weekends)
  • 10-month contract (with potential extension)
  • Access to clinical supervision and strong organisational support
