Area Manager, North Coast

The opportunity: Maxlife Care is seeking an experienced Area Manager to provide operational leadership across five to six Supported Independent Living homes on the North Coast.

Reporting directly to the Portfolio Manager, you will lead Team Leaders across five to six SIL Houses with approximately 12-14 clients and oversee multidisciplinary teams of Workers within each home. You will work across Newcastle, Belmont, Charlestown and Edgworth areas, having visibility across these sites and 1 day per week from home.

This is an opportunity to influence service quality across a significant portfolio while remaining connected to the participants, families and teams at the heart of the services. You will bring consistency across the homes, strengthen leadership capability and ensure each service operates safely, effectively and in line with NDIS requirements.

About the role

As Area Manager, you will:
  • Provide operational leadership and direction across four SIL homes.
  • Coach, support and develop Team Leaders to deliver high-quality, person-centred services.
  • Oversee staffing, service performance, quality, compliance and participant outcomes.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure services are well supported and operating smoothly.
  • Build trusted relationships with participants, families, employees and other key stakeholders.
  • Promote a positive, accountable and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding and employee development.
  • Respond effectively to operational challenges, incidents and emerging risks.
  • Ensure services comply with relevant legislation, NDIS requirements, organisational policies and industry standards.
About you

You are an experienced disability services leader who combines strong operational judgement with a genuine, people-centred approach.
You will bring:
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within the NDIS and disability services sector.
  • Previous experience overseeing multiple SIL homes, accommodation services or comparable programs.
  • The ability to lead, coach and positively influence frontline leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of quality, safeguarding, compliance and person-centred service delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Confidence managing competing priorities across multiple locations.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across internal departments.
  • A relevant qualification in social work, human services, healthcare administration or a related discipline.
  • A current driver’s licence and access to reliable transport.
