Specialist AOD Clinician role in a new Youth Trauma Service supporting young people with complex trauma and substance use through integrated care.

We are partnering with a highly respected community services organisation to recruit an AOD Clinician for a brand-new Youth Trauma Service launching in the ACT. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team establishing an innovative, trauma-informed program supporting young people with complex needs.

The Opportunity:

As the AOD Clinician, you will provide specialist alcohol and other drug support within a multidisciplinary youth trauma service. You will play a key role in delivering integrated therapeutic interventions and strengthening AOD capability across the clinical team.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based AOD assessments and therapeutic interventions
  • Supporting young people with co-occurring AOD, mental health and psychosocial challenges
  • Developing individualised treatment plans integrating harm reduction, recovery and trauma-informed approaches
  • Providing flexible outreach and engagement strategies for young people who face barriers to accessing services
  • Delivering psychoeducation, harm reduction strategies and family support interventions
  • Supporting multidisciplinary care planning and risk management processes
  • Providing consultation, coaching and training to clinicians to strengthen AOD capability across the service
  • Building strong partnerships with youth mental health, AOD, education and community providers
About You:

We are seeking an experienced AOD clinician passionate about supporting young people experiencing co-occurring trauma and substance use challenges.

You will bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Counselling.
  • Professional registration or eligibility for membership (e.g., AHPRA, AASW or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience delivering AOD counselling and therapeutic interventions
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction, recovery-oriented practice and trauma-informed care
  • Experience working with young people and families experiencing complex and intersecting needs
  • Ability to deliver group and individual interventions and contribute to service development
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Current driver’s licence
