Mental Health, Counseling & Therapeutic Services

The Outreach Worker is responsible often working either during the week, but also weekends and some evenings and therefore must be available to work varying shifts.

What you will typically do in your role:

The role provide’s direct support to people in the community either in homelessness and or mental health outreach services in a sensitive, strengths based, and non-discriminatory, non-judgemental way.

Applicants in these roles will use a high level of initiative and judgement especially in vulnerable and volatile situations, which includes responding to crises.

Ability to take notes including handover notes and other documentation, reporting of service issues, attendance and participation in meetings and training.

Uphold and promote the right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality of people.

Applicants typically need to have:

• Certificate IV or Diploma in a relevant field
• A strong understanding of the child protection system and more specifically previous exposure to a residential or out of home care environment.
• WWCC for the relevant state
• CPR and Mental Health First Aid Training
• current valid Driver Licence

The role involves the provision of comprehensive, evidence-based clinical case management, psychological and psychosocial interventions to clients accessing the service.

What you will typically do in your role:

• Provide evidence-based psychological and psychosocial interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of young people within a Framework.

• Provide mental health assessments, including completion of mental state examination, risk assessment, case formulations and individual treatment planning.

• Develop, implement and evaluate appropriate treatment plans for each person in collaboration with thee person, families and members of the multidisciplinary team

Typical requirements of these roles:

• Approved tertiary qualifications in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work with full registration with AHPRA or eligible for membership with the AASW.

• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience of clinical practice field within the mental health providing high quality triage, assessment and evidence based psychological interventions.

• Demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan and coordinate a comprehensive bio-psychosocial approach and interventions to meet the needs of clients.

• Demonstrated a commitment or willingness to continue professional development, contribute to workplace education through clinical supervision, training and education through the provision of seminars, lectures or in-services.

• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act (2007) and other relevant legislation

• Current NSW Driver’s License 

• WWCC 

School counselling staff support students by providing psychological counselling, assessment and intervention services. School counsellors work with students of all ages and their families, from pre-Kindergarten to Year 12.

Typical requirements of these roles:

• Approved tertiary qualifications 

• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience of clinical practice field within the mental health 

• Demonstrated a commitment or willingness to continue professional development

• Current NSW Driver’s License 

• WWCC 

The primary function of the Counselling role is to provide high quality counselling (and where applicable relationship education services) to individuals, couples, family, and children. The position will involve working collaboratively within The Counselling Team to maintain excellent standards of practice and may also involve some networking with other agencies.  

Typical requirements of these roles:

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or equivalent 

• Eligibility for APS, AASW or other equivalent counsellor/therapist professional membership. 

• Demonstrated experience in counselling individuals and couples  

• Experience in delivering quality customer service to a diverse range of people, including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, LGBTIQ+ and people with disabilities. 

• Current NSW Driver’s License

The role involves working with people who’ve sustained a psychological injury. Often the role involves driving recovery and a return to work, life and wellbeing

• Supporting a diverse client base 

• Managing a caseload of clients

• Completing assessments including initial needs assessments, vocational assessments and psychological functional assessments 

• Providing SIRA Treatment Services (for registered Psychologists in New South Wales)

• Promoting psychosocial health and injury management

• Developing and delivering healthy mind training in workplaces

• Tertiary qualification Psychology and up tp date registration with AHPRA
