Team Leader, Casework

The Role
Partnering closely with vulnerable communities, children, young people, and families experiencing complex and intersecting challenges, you will lead and support a dedicated team delivering trauma-informed, family-centred practice. With a strong focus on families’ strengths and needs, you’ll oversee case planning that empowers families to create lasting change, build resilience, and reduce the risk of significant harm.

Full-Time Contract through to end of June 2026 (funding dependent due to current reforms; tender outcomes expected March 2026)

Key Duties

You’ll play a key role in guiding practice, strengthening outcomes, and ensuring families are connected to the right supports and networks at the right time.
  • Lead and mentor a team of caseworkers, responsible for supporting families to stay together
  • Provide professional and group supervision, guidance, and practice development
  • Build and strengthen relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ensure program delivery, reporting, and risk management standards are consistently met

Skills and Experience
  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or equivalent
  • Proven experience in child and family social work at a senior practitioner or operational management level
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching capability, particularly within complex family systems
  • A strong understanding of child protection practices, risk management, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Experience working with vulnerable and diverse families, including culturally responsive practice
