Practice Manager – Community Health Clinic
Lead a new community health clinic, grow its client base through outreach, and expand equitable healthcare access for vulnerable people
- $100 776 + Super + Salary Packaging
- Full-time, initial 12-month contract - possibility of extension
- Located in Blacktown
We’re partnering exclusively with a respected not-for-profit organisation that has been providing vital support to individuals experiencing disadvantage for decades. Their mission is to address poverty, homelessness, and social inequality by delivering essential services such as food, education, welfare support, and access to health care.
Their Social Health and Wellbeing team are often the first point of contact for people facing complex challenges. The service provides wrap-around support including crisis intervention, case management, and access to a wide range of medical and allied health services.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a confident, proactive, and highly adaptable Practice Manager who is deeply passionate about supporting vulnerable people to access the healthcare they need. Based at a newly established community health clinic in Blacktown, you will play a key role in building and growing the client base—reaching people in the community who may be experiencing disadvantage, are hesitant to seek help, or are unsure how to navigate the health system.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape a service from the ground up. You’ll work closely with an established team at another site to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery, while focusing primarily on setting up, managing, and growing the new clinic as a safe and trusted place for people seeking medical and social support.
Why This Role Matters
This role is about more than just operational management—it’s about removing barriers and creating real access to quality, community-based healthcare for people who may otherwise go without. Your leadership, community-minded approach, and willingness to “roll up your sleeves” will be essential in building a welcoming, culturally safe, and sustainable clinic that actively reaches out to vulnerable community members and responds effectively to their needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the establishment of the new clinic, bringing experience in GP setup, NGO operations, and partnership development.
- Proactively grow the client base through outreach, relationship-building, and targeted engagement with vulnerable people seeking medical and social support.
- Oversee daily operations and coordinate staff to ensure smooth, client-focused service delivery.
- Monitor budgets, financial performance, and compliance with reporting obligations.
- Support program management, including AOD services, KPI tracking, and funding acquittals.
- Maintain compliance with industry regulations and accreditation requirements (e.g., AGPAL).
- Foster a safe and supportive environment through strong leadership, supervision, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Step outside of your job description where needed—supporting the team with practical, hands-on duties to ensure the clinic thrives.
- Experience managing GP or community health clinics.
- Genuine passion for working with people experiencing disadvantage, with a strong commitment to equity and access to healthcare.
- Demonstrated initiative and adaptability in dynamic and sometimes crisis-driven environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Qualifications in business or practice management (or equivalent).
- Compliance and reporting experience highly valued.
- Empathy, warmth, and non-judgemental engagement with people from marginalised and disadvantaged backgrounds.
- SCHADS Level 5 pay + Not-for-Profit salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 tax-free).
- Professional development opportunities.
- Health and wellbeing programs, including access to EAP.
- Convenient location close to public transport.
- The chance to make a tangible, lasting impact on the lives of people in the community by building a trusted community health service from the ground up.
