The Youth Worker is responsible for assisting clients to access safe, affordable and stable accommodation.  This includes providing holistic support and advise from intake to exit and day to day independent living skills.

The Youth worker offers referrals to medical services, assist with appointments, family and educational goals.

Applicants in these roles will use a high level of initiative and judgement especially in vulnerable and volatile situations, which includes responding to crises.

Ability to take notes including handover notes and other documentation, reporting of service issues, attendance and participation in meetings and training.

Uphold and promote the right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality of young people.

Applicants typically need to have:

• Certificate IV or Diploma in a relevant field
• A strong understanding of the child protection system and more specifically previous exposure to a residential or out of home care environment.
• WWCC for the relevant state
• CPR and Mental Health First Aid Training
• Current valid Driver Licence
• 500 + hours of paid or placement experience
• Understanding of behaviours as a result of trauma
• Experience working with vulnerable people, relevant to the service
• Training or experience to Identify and Respond to Risk of Harm training
• Cultural Awareness training

The Outreach Worker is responsible often working shifts and therefore must be available to work varying shifts that include morning and after school support, weekend shifts; and must be available to work school holidays.

The role provide’s direct support to young people in a sensitive, strengths based, and non-discriminatory, non-judgemental way.

Support includes day to day living situations including social and community inclusion, with an emphasis on choice, dignity and enhancing quality of life, health and wellbeing, whilst ensuring duty of care is upheld at all times

Case Management and or Senior Case Managementiconmonstr-arrow-right-thin-svg

Typical Case Management roles in Child, Youth & Family Services could include Foster Care Case Management or Case Management in ITC services or Case Management in Early Intervention services. All roles will vary in case size from short term case management to longer term case management and could typically be anywhere from 6 to 14 young people in your case load.

Typically duties in case management include:

• Engaging Young Person in effective case planning, case plan development and case plan review
• Provide person-centred case management to clients
• Monitor consistency of person-centred plans in place according to individual clients’ support needs (including general support plans, behaviour support plans, health support plans)
• Meet regularly with YP and potentially Carers and the Carer Support team so that young people’s wellbeing is actively safe guarded
• Ensure foster and kinship carers or birth families are supported to provide high quality care and positive outcomes for the children and young people in their care
• Establish collaborative relationships with a wide range of specialist and mainstream services such as government and non government agencies, to improve outcomes for young people and their families

Typical requirements for these roles:


• Minimum Diploma qualification in Community Services or related field – ideally a relevant degree
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Case Management in OOHC / Child Protection & working knowledge of child protection legislation & reporting
• WWCC
• Drivers Licence
• Knowledge, skills and experience working with young people and their families in a respectful and caring manner

Therapeutic Specialistsiconmonstr-arrow-right-thin-svg

Therapeutic Specialists and Family Therapeutic Specialists provide interventions and assessments using a particular model for the service.
 
Primary Objectives of these roles:
A child or children are often referred to the services or program by DCJ because of the child protection risk to the family and the imminent likelihood of an OOHC placement for the child/ren or maybe already removed depending on the nature of the service.
 
Typically requirements of these roles include but not limited to:

• A Bachelors qualification in Social Work or Psychology/ Aboriginal Health Worker / Community Welfare Worker or Master of Counselling. 
• Post Graduate training in relevant child, adolescent and family clinical practice, family therapy and systemic thinking is strongly preferred. 
• Often membership to a relevant peak body or eligibility for membership
• Clinical experience working with families/ adolescents strongly preferred. 
• Understanding of child protection legislation
• WWCC
• Drivers license

Clinical Leadsiconmonstr-arrow-right-thin-svg

The Clinical Lead is often a key leadership position working alongside the Program Manager or Operations Manager to contribute to the design, development and implementation of a model for the service. Overseeing clinical excellent and practice, providing support and guidance and often supervision.

These roles could be working across residential or community based services.

Typically duties include but not limited to:

• Provide clinical leadership, consultation, and expertise
• Assist with coordination and support of stakeholders to build capacity through evidence-based strategies
• Contribute to the development of strong working partnerships with local and national stakeholders and community partners to facilitate engagement and implementation of strategies
• Work alongside the Program Manager / Operations Managers and Leads to actively contribute to the development of a positive team culture
• Provide clinical supervision

Typical skills and experience required:

• Approved tertiary qualifications in an allied health discipline, including social work, psychology (clinical, counselling, and 4+2 or 5+1 pathway), mental health nursing and occupational therapy
• Advanced level clinical skills within mental health, including experience in providing clinical supervision to staff
• Experience in contributing to service design and development, and fostering a positive team culture
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to connect and engage with people both online, and in person.

Practice Leads are often the same or similar to Clinical Leads but may not be required to Provide Clinical Supervision

These roles could be working across residential or community based services.

Typically duties include but not limited to:

Typically experience for this roles includes:

• Demonstrated experience in leading and/or influencing a team, with experience coaching, supervising and providing practice-based support within the service or similar service
• Strong business and financial acumen, with demonstrated experience in developing strategies and plans for compliance and growth
• Experience working with children and young people
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
• Current Driver Licence

Area Management roles in CYF services typically oversee operational tasks and ensure they are completed including timely plans, that finances are on track and that homes or programs have the resources necessary to deliver the services.

The Area Manager also ensures that relationship management with external agencies (such as DOHA and FACS) are maintained and improved.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Day-to-day Management, mentoring and performance management of a team and ancillary staff across multiple programs.
• Overseeing consistency of care for Children and Young People including review and audit of Young People files.
• Budgetary control Ensuring the implementation and delivery of the Marist180 Therapeutic Framework.
• Demonstrating strong focus on operational matters, thus ensuring services are always in peak working order.
• Attending, leading and participating in Team meetings.
• Ensuring staff adequacy on an on-going basis.
• Building relationships with external Agencies including but not limited to FACS, Juvenile Justice and NSW Health, Education and Communities and Police; Industry Peak Bodies, Community Visitors, Consultants and Contractors.
• Attending to a wide range of administrative duties including RTW staff compliance, WHS and associated injury reports, staffing/rostering, EFT transfers etc.
• Key partnership and relationship contacts are maintained regularly.

Experience often required:

• A relevant qualification at Degree level (evidence of completing a relevant degree and 10 years sector experience is also acceptable).
• At least 3-5 years’ management or supervisory experience in a similar role
• Experience in leading people in a community services setting.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven decision-making abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and data management abilities.
• Well-developed computer skills.

Operations Managers across Child Youth & Family (CYF) Services are similar to those of an Area Manager, depending on the company structure.

An Operations Manager CYF services typically oversee operational tasks and ensure they are completed including timely plans, that finances are on track and that homes or programs have the resources necessary to deliver the services.

The Area Manager also ensures that relationship management with external agencies (such as DOHA and FACS) are maintained and improved.

• Day-to-day Management, mentoring and performance management of a team and ancillary staff across multiple programs.

The Regional Manager has overarching responsibility for operations and delivery of meeting strategic objectives. Working closing with both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Day-to-day Management, mentoring and performance management of a leadership team and ancillary staff across multiple programs.
• Overseeing consistency of care for Children and Young People including review and audit of Young People files where required
• Large budgetary control
• Demonstrating strong focus on operational matters, thus ensuring services are always in peak working order.
• Attending, leading and participating in interagency and leadership meetings.
• Ensuring staff adequacy on an on-going basis.
• Building relationships with external Agencies
• Key partnership and relationship contacts are maintained regularly.

Experience often required:

• A relevant qualification at Degree level (evidence of completing a relevant degree and 10 years sector experience is also acceptable).
• At least 5 years’ management or supervisory experience in a similar role leading leaders
• Experience in leading leaders people in a community services setting.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven decision-making abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and data management abilities.
• Well-developed computer skills.
